It was much easier for me to learn knitting as an adult than it was as a child. Bigger hands, and more patience.  Grin

I'm sure there will be some crotchet going on as well, if you want to learn that.

Wow, there's some fellow craftsters in my neighborhood! Tongue  I haven't seen this board. I'm from the 151 and Potranco area. Nice to see there's others alot others in the S.A. area. The other day I went to a yard sale and saw a koolaid bag and thought to myself *they have got to be on craftsters * but was too shy to ask. Well nice to meet yall! Oh and by the way my name is Nelda. Grin

ZOMG neighborhood crafting party! seriously! I'm just up at the end of 151 at 1604, like 3 minutes away!. Bring the kids, I have a pool....

About that get together- I don't knit either but I could totally drop by to donate other goodies & meet fellow craftsters. Where exactly is Yarnivore?

Hi, Nelda! How old are your boys? I have a 5 year old girl and a 4 year old boy...

Penlowe, Yarnivore's address is
2325 NW Military Hwy #109

It's tucked into a parking lot with a Joann's or a Michaels, I think, and a few other places. Maybe a chinese place? I just take Lockhill Selma down to Military. Maybe someone who knows the city better than I do can give you better directions...

Since there are some non-knitters, maybe we should plan to meet up at Yarnivore, then go for coffee or a drink or something?

The Michaels and Joann's are closed now. lol There is an HEB across the street. There is an ACE in the parking lot with the Yarnivore. It's in the small building next to the street, not in the strip mall.

410 to Military
Military just past Lockhill Selma
It's in the shopping center on the right

It'd be great to meet up there and then go somewhere after. There's a tasty mexican restaurant across the street.  Wink

Ah, I know exactly where that is, that's Churchill HS district. I went to Mac.

It was a Hancock's : (

And yes the Mexican place across the way is quite good, albeit it's been a really long time since I ate there last.

Is Yarnivore kid-friendly? (like, they won't glare daggers at me if I walk in with little kids) My girls are pretty good shoppers, chances are they would be coming with me. They are 5 & 3.

Teapot can you teach 2 people how to knit at the same time? Grin

Indeed I can!  Grin

It's not the most kid friendly place. They won't glare, but there's not much else to do but feel the yarn which is high off the ground. I can always bring some of my goofy kid stuff so they can color or play with something new.

I had my wedding reception at that Mexican place. lol And I do remember that it was Hancocks now. There's not much open in that center anymore.

I find it very odd that it's part of Castle Hills and in such a decline. I went into the Texaco for potty & a soda before hitting the Hancock's when there were closing everything out and it was the weirdest Texaco I'd ever been in!

We walked in and it smelled very strongly of incense, ok, a little unusual but not bizzare. Went potty, went to the soda fountain, got in line. Standing next to a magazine rack and I realized the porn was on the top shelf, it's usually on the bottom and certainly not right at the register...then I realize there's nothing but porn mags on both magazine rack right there at the register. (I'm a grown up- it doesnt bother me, but I had my kids & they are little and prone to asking embarrasing questions very loudly). So I'm distracting the girls from the very interesting magazine covers by playing I Spy in other parts of the store. (I spy something yellow and rectangular" "it's the chips!") So my older daughter says "I spy a wizard"...I'm looking & looking...it's a wizard shaped bong in a case on the counter! All this in a Texaco gas station in Castle Hills!!!

It was a very strange day.
