I copied this idea of an xmas card from one I got last year. but I had so many people compliment me on it, I am now selling them at our craft fair.

but, I was wondering, has anyone seen or thought of any other cute poem ideas to make a unique card out of (with a gift attached). like this teapot one?

http://www3.telus.net/reanna/images/craft/teapot.jpg

this is the poem if you can't read the tiny writing:

"on christmas day, at half past three,
brew yourself a cup of tea.
i'll think of you, you think of me,
as we sit beside the christmas tree."

then a tea bag is inserted into it, and the back says merry christmas and a space to sign your name.

I made my teapots from cardstock, two pieces glued together with a slit cut for the tea bag to go into.

I am trying to think of something else like that to do, like maybe something with a bookmark or chocolates attached somehow- maybe like those 'reindeer poop' gifts people give out that are really chocolate covered peanuts - but in a card.

any ideas?

Man! That so rocks! I am a tea fiend and had come up with a similar idea for my holiday cards, except a teacup, not pot, and no such nifty poem. Now I feel as though I'm hijacking someone else's better idea. *grins* It's all good though, I think yours is awesome!!

Hijack the idea! GO ahead! thats why I posted it!

I pinched it from someone else myself, only they used an old christmas card cut into the shape of a teapot. I just decided to be all fancy shmancy and use graphics software.

one big downside to this as a mailable christmas card - costs more to mail it.

You can also do the same idea using a steaming mug of hot chocolate and inserting a package of hot chocolate mix and then some marshmallows - either make your own a la Martha Stewart recipe or package the mini ones as snowman poop?

I'll post a copy of the finished product! I'm trying to get it to fit in a standard envelope. We'll see! But I will post mine. I LOVE the cocoa idea, but I'm a tea fiend.

Hijacking!  Hijacking!  Perfect for my work friends (cute AND affordable!!!).  And just in time for my "Loco for Cocoa" chocolate-themed holiday party, I'll try to adapt the teapot to the hot cocoa mug idea.  Many, many thanks, oh crafstery friends!

If I could find little individual instant coffee packets that were fancy or flavoured, I would do the same thing, but a with a coffee pot. but, I haven't found any yet.
