elecbunni It's all felt. Felt is my girlfriend! The black background is woolfelt. It's thicker and stands better.

wow, thank you all again! I love trees so much and always feel sad when they cut big old trees in my neighborood. It's like a murder for me. Especially when it is supid reasons like getting more sun on a house!

I love wool felt.  I just bought a bunch of wool coats and skirts yesterday at a thrift store and felted it.  Can't wait to cut it up and make some goodies!  Your stitching on the leaves is great.  It really adds to the whole thing.  Glad your hubby likes it!

So beautiful!!!! The "will s/he like it" suspense phase is always rough (yet strangely exhilarating), but when someone really digs something you've worked so hard on for them, it just makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?
I've seen bamboo canes at Wal-Mart, in the section with the fake flowers. (Some are dyed different colours, but I'm pretty sure I've seen un-dyed ones, too.)
