Sorry if the title was deceptive and you were expecting cute earrings with fortune cookies on them! Just "fortune earrings" sounded odd, at least to me.

What I really made were earrings out of the little fortunes that come inside the cookies. I saved all my little fortunes in my wallet, and I went on an earring making spree this weekend, so I picked two of my favorites to make into earrings:

Sorry for the big, grainy pictures. They look better in real life. I hope you can read them. My camera ate all the batteries, so I had to make do with a scanner. They're actually kind of big, but I'm looking forward to wearing them! Comments appreciated!

On a side note, one of my friends has this funny game you play with fortunes. Whenever someone reads one, she follows it up with "...in bed!" So the fortune, with her comment, might read: "You have come to success through failure... in bed!" or "You constantly struggle for self-improvement... in bed!", etc. It gets me every time.

Did you coat/cover the forutnes with something to make them stiff?  They are WAY cute, and I must have a pair!

PS-->My friends and I do the "in bed" thing, too.  I still giggle every time Smiley

Hee hee. We play the 'in bed' game too. I didn't realise it was so widespread. The earrings are cute too!

I cut a piece of stiff cardstock the size of each slip of paper. I glued them together using modge podge, and then put on two coats of modge podge for sealer. They are actually really stiff, which is how I wanted them. Then I just made holes with a little awl/pokey tool thing, and added beads and earwires, and voila! They were really easy and fast to make, so I hope you guys make some with your favorite fortunes too!

I bought the earring hooks last night, and I'm going to buy the fortune cookies today.  I must have a pair of these!

What a brilliant idea xcrunnergirl!

Oh, what a cute idea!  It would be fun to make a bunch of those and mix and match, since finding matching ones would be difficult!

On the 'in bed' game (we say 'naked and in bed') - the other day my bf got 'the best one ever' : "Before asking yourself if you're doing things right, ask yourself whether you're doing the right things."

I've made a couple pairs, and I didn't use cardstock at all.  I just covered both sides with contact paper, and I'm pleased with the stiffness.  *giggling, because I just thought about the "in bed" bit, and then I said "siffness"...someday I will grow up Wink*
