Hey All!
I wanted to share the purse I just finished!  I'm very excited because it's the first one I made with a zipper!

 Cheesy

Thank you all so much!  I worked very very hard on this one.  It was from a brand new Vogue pattern that had several other really cool purses on it.

This is so cute!  Is it suede?

How was your first zipper experience?  I haven't tried it yet, but I know I'll have to soon...

It's microsuede ( upholstery material) that looks and feels like suede but is much cheaper.  My new favorite thing to do is scour Joann fabric's upholstery remnant table for cool microsuede.

Sewing the zipper to the outside fabric was easy but I didn't like how they have you attach the lining to the zipper.  They have you slip the lining into the purse and slipstitching it to the zipper  (this way you don't have to turn anything inside out) but it makes it a challenge (at least for me) to attach the corners by the handle.  I guess they expect this pattern to be used by people with more experience.   Grin

I also found that my zipper is a mite small with a teeny zipper pull.  Since I'm carrying this one myself, it's no big deal.  But I will use a larger zipper for the ones I sell.  I'm thinking of embroidering on the next one...

I love that style of bag. and the lining is perfect. I have always been a fan of the plain-ish outside and busy liners.  Great job!   Zippers are fun arent they?!  I have only "installed" two and although they were pretty easy, but I love the button/loop closure better, even easier, lol.  Can yall tell I'm lazy? lol

I love this bag.  Did you create the shape yourself.  How much was the microsuede at Joann?
