We always got socks and underwear and chocolat.... you know, necessities of life.  Grin

If they're crafty things like nice paper and craft supplies...

a journal, hair things (ties, pins, elastics, barets...), pens, pencils, small toys, bath beads and other nice bath things (sponges, brushes, exofoliants whatever).

you can find great affordable stuff in dollar stores and smaller import stores

I'm making hot/cold flax seed pack and marble magnets for my mom's stocking.

I'm not sure if teenagers like coffee (might be more a college student gift) but I bought 1.5 oz packs of coffee at the grocery store for $1.50 each and some flavored coffee syrup for just under 5.00.  They have some really nice gourmet coffees that would be a yummy gift (that's what I'm putting in my brother's stocking).

^^ I wish you were filling my stocking! Grin I'm such a coffee addict (but at least I can admit it!)

I make up the stockings every year and people LOVE LOVE LOVE to get the things they always want to buy but will not spend hard earned cash on so it's a big treat for them.
Like for my mom I buy her nice christmas ornaments, nice kitchen tools etc.
For the boyfriend I stuff it with archie comics, candy and art supplies that he needs.

Our stockings always overflow onto the floor though because they have movies, books, games etc.

Everything in the store is 5$ or below and its not cheaply made shit like the normal dollar store its overstock from bigger names. They have EVERYTHING. i just went there strickly for stocking stuffers, i spent like 45$ and got 37 things. thats a great deal!!!! so look it up if its near you

I fill a stocking for my mom, sister and brother in law every year and yes, it can get expensive. For my sister, I have gone to the Christmas tree Shoppe (we have here in Connecticut) and got some cooking utensils (some for $1.00 or so) or Suave shower gel - stuff like that. Avon has some cute things like lip glosses, little soaps and they are pretty reasonable. Maybe some chocolates, hot cocoa mix. For those who like to cook, you can get spices in the dollar store. Maybe candles or note cards.. I had better get busy on the stockings that I have to fill!

yes! christmas tree shop is my favorite! the one in danbury CT is my best friend. Also, depending on their personality, include kid stuff, like all those personalized notebooks, stickers, duckies, ornaments, magnets, flashlights, ect.
