I need some advice....

i want to start to sell scarves on etsy. but i have a few questions:

1) how much should i price them at? whats the typical price range?
2) what would be a good way to photograph them? on a model or alone? what about really long scarves?
3) any tips on selling them in general? improvements i could make?

I am sorry for the crickets chirping for you.. I thought I would bump you up a bit.

Here is my feedback -
I have sold a few. I used boa yarns and sold them for about $15/$20 each.  I did not do well and ended up giving the rest of them to my nieces for Christmas last year. 

I won't do craft shows again.  I was warned... but crocheting for profit just doesn't really exist I dont' think.  Most people still feel that your work is only worth about a dollar an hour if that.  They don't realize how long it takes to make things and how expensive yarns are.  They want to pay for a walmart worsted but want imported fun fibers.

I would just check ebay... see what people are using and selling them for - if they are selling them at all.

Crafting for profit is a hard business especially when they can go to the store and pick up a fun fur scarf for $5.

wow. if i were to sell them for 15 id be making 2 bucks an hour and about 8 bucks for yarn.

That's why I don't sell much crochet stuff anymore.

Granted, maybe online you will have a better audience with deeper pockets.  Maybe I am just not on top of what was on top, who knows.  The only thing I can say is try it... see what you can do, if you do want to do it, and you can always lower your price, but it is more difficult to raise it once you get a following.

Crocheted scarves is a really saturated market. Give them as gifts, don't sell them. Crochet toys seem to be the way to go.
