No poppies are not illegal.. haha I used them in my wedding you can buy them at flower shops and flower places online, but be careful with buying flowers online because poppies are very sensitive and do not hold up really welll in shipping. Believe when you get a $300 dollar box of wilted poppies you will be very sad. I love them they are beautiful.

those tissue poppies are darling.... and so's the baby!

Thanks muffinpod! I love the photo you took, I think it would look great silk screened on a canvas & hung on a wall.

super geek, I've never seen that song before, it's really sad isn't it? Is it Siouxsie & The Banshees?

elliephant, your wedding favours were gorgeous, I nearly cried when I read your inlaws forgot them! Have you thought of anything else you could use them for? Maybe you could inclose a little note & send them off as thank-yous?

batgirl, I LOVE the Marimekko Poppy print! The story about your friend is a total crack up! I told my husband & he spent the morning trying to think up other names. Too much time on his hands I think...

rubyflame, I bought some poppy seeds on ebay last year. They are really easy to grow. Most florists sell poppies as cut flowers or little plants.

Can you tell how obsessed I am? Thanks for starting the thread rubyflame!

I think it's a WWII era poem, but it was recorded as a song by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Yes we actually did that, and then the leftovers boxes we gave out with candy in them at halloween to get rid of the rest of them. It made me feel better. Thanks for the concern.

For Poppy's naming day I made poppy after poppy with tissue paper & pipe cleaners. The whole party had the poppy colours as it's theme. It's alittle hard to see, I'll try & russle up some better pics if you are interested...

I took a pic of a poppy and then painted over it in acrylics on a canvas.

The poem is by John McCrae, a Canadian who served in WWI.

yeah, the poem is big in canada for remembrance day, i remember it being read every year
