Has anyone been to Daiso, the Japanese dollar store in Aberdeen Centre?

I'm going today for the first time...supposedly everything there is $2 and there are two floors of housewares, crafty things, makeup, etc etc etc.

I'm really excited to see what kinds of cheapie goodies I can find!!!

Oh, my friend swears by their makeup. I've used some of it, it's pretty good quality and comes in every colour under the sun. I don't know about the other stuff, though.

Daiso rocks! My boyfriend and I live at that store. Check out their stationery section and the linens section for pillowcases and the like. One small problem -- most of their items are geared towards an Asian market, so the paper is A5, not letter size, and the pillow cases are smaller than our North American styles. The food section is great, and the arts and crafts section has some great stuff! I recommend it to anyone!

(Look at all those exclamation marks! You can tell I'm excited!)

A few notes: They are open 11:00 to 7:00 every day, and the parking lot can get seriously congested (we are talking 20 minutes to move to the next level) on the weekends. Otherwise, it's great.

Daiso is unbelievable. But just be careful, all that "but it's only $2!" moments can add up pretty fast. I love their craft section.

I love Daiso!! It is the besy place EVER. But it's true, $2 for an item can sure add up really fast...
I haven't been there for awhile, because it's a bit far away (White Rock to Richmond... not enough time to do this ><), but they have so much awesome stuff! I like their binders, and they have lots of craft stuff and other awesome junk ^^ It totally rocks.

there are lots of nifty things you can get at this store, i bought a little push counter i use for knitting...helps me keep track of my rows/rounds

but yes, $2 each item adds up fast, especially if you are like me  Lips sealed there are some things in there that are not exactly worth $2, but it's a great store

I usually got there by way of the Airport bus, but the 98 B Line runs nearby too.

I went there today . . . spent $47. *blush* BUT nearly half of that was yarn. They had acrylic before but now they have 100% WOOL! Not much to a ball (51 or 78 m) but STILL. Decent range of colours, too. I got four balls of an aran to chunky weight in a light brickish red, and three in navy. I also got three balls of a deep deep blood red that's slightly chunkier. They also had some 100% acrylic, some 70 acrylic-30 wool, and one that claimed to be wool-mohair but I couldn't find any percentages is English. There was also some crochet or tatting cotton. Definitely worth a look.

I went for the first time the other day and I think my favorite thing were the section of dremel bits and all the cool papers. I thought it was awesome that they had a fishing section - I don't fish but it really shows they have a bit of everything.

I went crazy... I love this store!

I spent like 55 dollars... but it was worth it. There are a couple of things my hubby bought for himself that I didn't take photos of.

Sorry about how photo heavy this is, but lookit! They have yarn... 100% wool chunky weight (3.5-4sts to 1") yarn!

Anyhoot, I will be going back, that is for sure!

I am a new member to this forum and I LOVE Daiso too.  Cheesy

I like their crafts, the cosmetic items, and also those great tools for organization (boxes of all size with mini sections, etc). And lots of items that I like too.

If I have a new home, I will buy things from Daiso.

i just went there for the first time last night!  It was surreal!  Especially since it was chinese new year- the mall was  crazy full of people and they had all kinds of performances and boutiques set up throughout the mall.
I was so pumped about the 100% wool!  My friend and I spent like 20 minutes checking the characters to make sure!! So much crafting stuff there.  It almost tempted me into getting craft stuff I'm not really in to- like paper (such pretty rice papers!) and beads.

I mostly buy crafts, snack, and facial stuffs.
Here is my method, when I pick up the product, I will think, then I will decide if I want to put it in the basket.
Then after, I will decide what I want and don't-want (chose from the basket).
Then I will go to the cashier, with product that I want.
So I actually think twice.

But yeah, I still have to "beware", haha.

Howdy all. I'm going to be visiting Vancouver and I'm wondering if someone can tell me how easy it is to get to Daiso from the 98 B bus? Is it a really easy and safe walk?

When you get off the bus, you'll be at cambie road and #3 road. Cross #3 road and walk along cambie for one block. There's a big entrance right on Cambie (after the parking lot entrance). Once you're in the mall, the entrance to Daiso is straight ahead and to your left. And it's a totally safe walk, but there is a lot of contruction on #3 road right now, so the sidewalks are a bit wonky.

Have fun. I am surprisingly excited you're coming to visit Vancouver.
