I'm so glad you made one, Jinjeet!  I hope you get the pics working so I can see what you mean- I think we've done the same thing.  A couple of the ones I've made more recently have the slit from the back of the neckhole to the edge of the towel, but instead of Velcro I just extended the bias tape and tied at the back of the neck.  You can make your own bias tape from long strips of scrap fabric and folding/pressing the long edges in (like a giant hot dog bun) if you have any trouble with fraying in the wash.
Happy crafting!

Thank you Jutybo.  I didn't make one I've made 5 of them.  I started off with one then my DIL wanted more so I just made 4 more and am about to make another 2 for her sister who just had a baby and thought I'd give 2 to a friends daughter who just had a little girl (decided that today when I saw towels on sale at the supermarket.)
I did what you wrote and took a small dinner plate for the hole, overlocked the part I cut out then made a small hem in it.  Put Velcro on the two sides at the "cut". I'm sure I could make bias tape but the few times I've tried to sew it onto something it was awful so this is my compromise. It didn't fray (thank goodness) cause of the hem.
I hope I succeed in posting small pictures of them.

I love these Bathers! 2 of my daughters, and my DiL are all pregnant and I believe I will make one for all 3 of them.  Wish I'd seen these 25 years ago.  lol

Do you happen to have a tute on the bathrobe made from a towel?  My oldest granddaughter would love one made from a Princess beach towel she has.

Thanks for posting this!  Smiley

If I'd known having grandchildren was so much fun, I would've had them first!
