I just did it with scrap yarn one evening when I was bored and didn't have a clue how it would come out. I'm actually not fond of pastels and would likely make more in black and constrasting bright bits of novelty yarn.
I personally like my ice cream cozy (which I did the next night & is posted somewhere below) better.
