OK, so I thought I'd share this craft with my Craftster friends because I am pretty jazzed about it.

I saw these rose petal soaps on Red Envelope http://tinyurl.com/w9t9 and thought--hey! I can make those!

I bought: glycerin soap, red food coloring, wax paper and and rose essential oil.

1) Melt the soap, mix in some red food coloring, and a bit of fragrance.

2) Spoon about a tablespoon of the soap onto the wax paper.

3) Let it dry (only takes about a minute), then peel up the little soaps.

4) When you're done, you've got these wonderful wafer-thin soaps that you can throw into a bath (imagine bathing among rose petals!) or just keep in a pretty jar in the bathroom for guests to use. They smell wonderful.

Yay, cool!  I bet you could embed those in clear soap, too... ?  (I haven't tried making soap yet, but I am obsessed with the idea...)

Lisabagg-

COOLNESS!  I tried making the silk flower petals dipped in soap last year, but still wasn't very happy with the results.  Your technique of making soap puddles on the wax paper is a brilliant idea!  I think I might try that for Valentine's Day.  Thanks for sharing your craftiness and welcome to Craftster!

cute!
but wouldnt using the smal pieces of soap be kinda awkward.
kinda like when you run out of the bar of soap and it just kinda deteriorates in the water.

i dunno
but they look super cute!

Do you think that you could melt rose-scented glycerin soap or is it better to start with plain soap?

instead of going out and buying glycerin soap, can you just melt down a bar of dove non scented soap?

Wow - i LOVE this idea, it's so beautiful. I don't know anyone who has done this idea, so props to you - it's perfect for christmas too (red and green petals) - or whatever colors are associated with your celebrated winter holiday! It could be used for anything really - valentines day, summer solstice etc.

To make my point - i love this idea. Thanks!
