My sister (a huge Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants fan) had her birthday back in August. And so, for her present, I got a pair of jeans from the thrift store and went to work. (For a 'before' image, just visualize a pair of regular straight-leg Tommy Hilfigers).

I crafted in the "required" things from the book and then put in some special things specific to us (see the below photos). However, after the first official wearing, the patch (a COOL patch now bonded to the pants with iron-on fusing tape) and some of the stars (metal studs that you punch the fabric and then fold the "arms" over to hold it on) were falling off. Some minor repairs (it wasn't too serious) were in order! And now, voila!

The FRONT

The BACK

CLOSE-UPS

For Carmen...: (acrylic paint, ironed to make it permanent)

For Tibby...: (with the metal star studs)

For Lena...: (permanent marker with a stenciled silver paint sailboat

For Bridget...: (ironed-in acrylic paint with permanent marker titles)

For Emma and Me...: (Megan A. Welsh and Emma O. Welsh, Best Friends Forever) and (YK: summer 2005, because we spent the summer at home for the first time in years and were hanging out together most of the time)

And finally, the flower on the back (for those who've seen the movies... Smiley)

...Of a girl I met forty years too late and of her life in a small town which I shall never see again, that holds so much of my affection.
