My craft room needed somewhere for my boyfriend to chill with a book when I was crafting so I moved an old vinyl couch in there. It didn't look too amazing so I spruced it up with a cordinating denim throw, pillow and rag rug!

I cut up 6 pairs of jeans into 7" squares and then laid them out on the floor to arrange the different colours of denim in the most interesting arrangement, i then picked out certain squares to embroider. I used straight stitch on my sewing machine to embroider large circles over it to make it look more modern. i then sewed all the squares together. I used stripes of denim for the back and an old blanket for stuffing. I tacked it in a few places with red yarn to keep the stuffing in place and to add to the design.

I made a coordinating pillow with smaller squares of denim for my cat to sleep on. I embroidered his name on it and a rocket!

Lastly I used the same red yarn as a warp and I wove a rag rug using strips of denim cut from 5 pairs of jeans. I cut the jeans from the waistband down to the leg so that I could get the longest strips of denim for weaving.

athena404: It didn't really take that long, threading the loom took about an hour and then another to weave it. It was the cutting the denim into strips that took forever! I used up all my light coloured denim jeans because i wanted the quilt to be all dark denim. Its a good thing I never throw anything away!

I love how you made a complete set of items. The red circles reminded me of Mickey Mouse too at first glance.
Great job!

Thanks everyone!
Jehnaier: Rocket does like the pillow but he also liked the rug a little too much- he peed on it! I'm going to have to handwash it in vinegar or something. Damn cat!

I love denim so much and that is such a welcoming area for your boyfriend.  The only other thing I have to say is I hope none of those jeans were Levis because cutting up Levis is a sin!  LOL!!
