I had to have a birthday present for one of my daughters babysitters so I made this purse from things I already had sitting around, i.e. two pairs of old jeans, a pair of wacky purple plaid pants, some fusible interfacing and MCalls pattern #4533.  This pattern was not really meant for fabric as heavy as denim, but what the heck.  This was my first time sewing in a gusset and it went well.

I was going to try a new (to me) pocket technique from one of the "put a pocket in your Jordy bag" tutorials but I noticed that there was already a perfectly good pocket on the back of the purple pants so I cut it out and stitched it to the lining.

The sitter liked it and actually uses it!
