so i bought all this yarn and didn't realize just how much i could make with it!!

8oz for red heart, 7oz for caron

2 hats, one long scarf, and the beginning of a new scarf Smiley

my first hat using the knifty knitter. kinda thin, stripes too far up the hat.. gave it to my brother and started over for myself

second attempt. much happier, keeping this one for myself for now  Cheesy

my attempt to show how long this is. again, using my knifty knitter because i don't have round needles, nor do i know how to knit in the round!
it's not as long as the pattern calls for from atypicalknit, but i felt it was long enough for me.. seeing as how i'm only 5'2". ended up giving this to my brother too so i could start a new one for myself. ps, this was my first knitting project with switching colors!

the beginnings of my new scarf. straight needles, not as wide, and definitely not as thick Smiley

so everything here was either started/finished last night,  except for the first scarf which was done like a month ago.  haha, and my brother isn't even a big fan of slytherin! he prefers ravenclaw, because according to him, that's where j.k. rowling puts all the mathelets and asians!

Yay Slytherin! I like your scarf and hat you did, it appeals to my black heart. If you still have any of that yarn leftover you can make a matching Slytherin shrug. I made one out of the same yarn not too long ago and it looked quite nice.

I'm using that same pattern! With a lot of differences it seems. *sigh* My silver doesn't shine; it's more grey and dull than silver. It's probably twice as broad because I'm Danish and don't understand English patterns, and the stripes are like 5 inches wide. Embarrassed Eh. I guess it'll turn out alright.
I love your scarf and hats! I wish I'd gotten that kind of silver, but since it's my first project, the lady at my LYS and my grandma dumped a lot of plain yarn in my arms. I hope my scarf ends up looking as good as yours. Smiley

the same thing happened to me.. i bought gold and burgundy for  a gryffindor scarf... i bought 3 skeings of each color, and didnt realize how much there actually was... i made the scarf and now have 2 complete skeins left over as well as maybe a 3rd from the ones i used to actually make the scarf

The shrug I did wasn't hard at all.  You knit the pieces flat and just do a little seaming.

I used the devilish shrug but I omitted the hood. The post for it can be found here, the tutorial is on the second page: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32147.0
