I was sewing away a couple of days ago whilst listening to my ipod (incidently, ipod + sewing machine noise = me not hearing my mum knock at the door! Roll Eyes) and i was wondering what music we find good to listen to whilst crafting!?
I thought it might be a good topic, just for fun...I hope you agree!

here's a couple of songs/artists I like to listen to while i craft....
Tori amos....particularly 'silent all these years'  Smiley
ben folds/ben folds five
bob marley - jamming
a perfect circle
tool (i know this is a strange choice but i find tool very emersive...as i do with crafting!)

for some reason, chick rock is my go-to crafting music. Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deerhoof, etc.

Old school rap, hip-hop, and R&B from the 70's and 80's.

Whodini, Ice-T, Will Smith (DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince then), Donny Hathaway, Rakim, Eazy-E, Doug E Fresh, LL Cool J, 2 Live Crew, Paliment-Funkadelic...etc.

And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS anything by Prince.

Anything on my headphone music playlist. I have two lists...one for turning on in the house, and one for putting on my earphones and going all introspective. The earphone one is the best for zoning out and sewing. :p

I like all sorts of stuff. I tend to listen to a mix of really up-tempo stuff (to get me pumped Tongue) and slower, more pensive songs. I actually set up a playlist of songs I like to listen to while I'm crafting:

http://www.playlist.com/standalone/43820368/yes
(^ will autostart the playlist)

Tracks:
"Paper Planes" by M.I.A., "Dancing with Myself" by Nouvelle Vague, "Santeria" by Sublime, "Parklife" by Blur, "Bill Murray" by Gorillaz, "Sic Transit Gloria (Glory Fades)" by Brand New, "I Will Survive" by Cake, "I Fought the Law" by the Clash, "Hang Me Up to Dry" by Cold War Kids, "Violet Hill" by Coldplay, "Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional, "Photobooth" by Death Cab for Cutie, "Shores of California" by Dresden Dolls, "Cherry Cola" by Eagles of Death Metal, "Salty Dog" by Flogging Molly, "Astronaut" by Amanda Palmer, "Look After You" by the Fray, "Ladyflash" by the Go! Team, "Rockit" by Gorillaz, "Hitchin' a Ride" by Green Day, "The Hardest Button to Button" by the White Stripes

Unfortunately, I get bored with music pretty quickly, so I'll need to make a new one fairly soon. Maybe I'll get some ideas from this thread. Wink

I like to listen to audio books while I craft. If I'm doing something that requires concentraion or is noisy (like when the sewing machine is going), I can't have anything playing. It overloads my brain.  Cheesy
