I knit this with a pattern from the Jess Hutch booklet: "http://www.jesshutch.com/booklet.html"

  I used left over Rowan Kid Classic and size five needles.  I'm a graduate student doing work with social robotics, so I thought that this guy was just the thing I needed hanging out in my office.

That's great!!  I also bought the book....and need only to buy some eyes to complete my robot.   Did you use size 5 or 5mm?   I used the recommended size 8 needles...and he's really too loose.   One day...i'm going to start gauging before i start.....

waistfire - I used size five needles, since I was using a different yarn.  I chose my needle size based on something I thought would give me a nice, firm fabric, and didn't really care about the size of the finished toy.  I think my robot is smaller than the ones she made, but I like him that way.

That's great, and I love your photo essay. I just learned about this book about an hour ago, reading the Fig & Plum blog (not getting much work done today) and I will be ordering it soon. My boyfriend would LOVE a knitted robot, I just know it!

I made one of these too! Rather than start a whole new thread I figured I'd post him here for all to see



He's fun to knit, despite a few frustrations I had to work my way through! I'm using him for a children's picture book I'm making for a spanish course (yup, elementary spanish...here's to wishing I had taken more spanish courses through school!)  and then, I don't know, I guess he'll just hang around the apartment!
