So I made this skirt tonight in a couple hours and it's awesome. I've had the fabric (it's corduroy!) lying around for a while and knew that i wanted to make a pleated skirt with it (who doesn't need a red/green pleated plaid skirt?) but wasn't sure how exactly i wanted it to look. Also I had the tops of some red corduroy pants that I didn't like (they didn't fit, I should have known better, they are Old Navy and their stuff never fits me right). Anyway so I just sat down tonight and started fooling around and this is what I came up with. I salvaged the waistband and the zipper from the cords and recycled them for this skirt! Woah!

So here it is:

I left it unhemmed at the edge because 1)I didn't do it before I made the pleats because I hadn't decided how long I wanted it to be beforehand, and it's a pain to do afterwards, and 2) I kind of like the edge raw like that. But it looks from the photos that I have to cut off some fraying strings.

Cute! I love printed corduroy, for some reason it's just absolutely fabulous. Your pleats look great.
And I like your green wellies, too.

This is fantastic! I always thought pleats were tricky, but I may have to get over my fear of them and make a skirt.

Thanks for the inspiration!
