I got this for free (my favorite price) at a yard sale today. It's really in good shape, but it is locked and I don't have the combination.

Any ideas how to get it open without destroying it? Can I remove the locks and put new latches on it?

Sorry about the fuzzy picture. Photography is so not one of my skills.

Wow what a great find!  And there might be gold nuggets inside, you never know. :)

Maybe you should take it to a locksmith -- he might know how to crack the combination.

Good luck!

LOL Actually I would give it to my neice to crack ... she is a bundle of energy but when she sits & plays she likes ot do weird repetive tasks...Like  sorting buttons, & lining up pins in color order on pin cushions... she would love to do that i think...especially if i told her sh'd get a small surpirise when both latches were opened!!

just FYI, i'm pretty sure that if there are 10 different digits (0 - 9), and 3 numbers in the combination, that means there are 1000 different possible combinations. and each latch might have a different combination. sheesh! i don't have that kind of attention span, but maybe you (or your neice) do. at least you know what you're getting into if you decide to go that route. good luck!

Well, I don't have a niece. I guess I'm off to find a locksmith!
