Hello everyone!

I've been wanting to make this hat for over a year, and I finally decided it was time.  So here it is!  I'm pretty happy with the way it came out... I want to make another one, but I'm thinking I'll knit it round instead of flat so I don't have to seam it.  I also would like to reverse the direction of one of the cables, so they'd mirror each other instead of twisting the same direction.

I wish I was clever enough to make up this pattern!  But alas, I'm not.  The pattern is from Hip to Knit.  http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1931499217/qid=1130696978/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-2125446-5226231?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

I'm glad you liked it!   Cheesy

Hi,  Your hat is awesome!  I was wondering how the projects were in that book.  Do you like any of the other projects in it?  The hat is really really cool.  I love the chunky yarn,  what did you use?  Sorry for all the questions.  I hope you are not feeling to assulted!  Jess

Thank you!  I actually had a really hard time finding yarn that was chunky enough for the pattern, so I used 2 strands of Lamb's Pride Bulky held together.  I'm knitting another one right now for a friend that's using 2 different colors together, and I really like how it's turning out as well.  I'll post pictures when I'm done with it.

About the book... it was one of the very first knitting books I bought a couple of years ago, and I bought it specifically for this hat.  There are a couple of other patterns in it that are interesting... but I don't think they're especially clever or interesting or novel.  I'd recommend looking through it at the bookstore or library before deciding to buy it.

This was the first knitting book I bought and though I've only made a few patterns, I make this hat all the time.  It's a great pattern, there are two versions, and they can be done really cheap with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick.

This is one of the first books I bought, too, and I have yet to really make anything from it. I did make one hat (the Most Basic Hat). I like a lot of the patterns, though. And I particulary like that rather than saying "use X skeins of X yarn" it says things like "Use 1000 yards of worsted weight yarn. We used X." It makes it much easier to substitute!
