Diva Frog Amigurumi (and a lion and ephelump)
«

I went a little crazy making these animals a couple weeks ago. The lion and elephant came out nicely, but I didn't really like the frog. When I sewed the eyes on, the ends of the threads looked like eyelashes, so I went from there and, uh, embellished her a bit.
Mr Lion. I didn't have any fur type yarn, so I used some of my Target fringe yarn for his mane. I rather like how it came out.

Mr. Ephelump. Elephants should be fatter than lions and frogs, so I expanded his body a bit to make him more rotund.

And Ms. Diva Frog. Her dress is knit from a purple boucle yarn I had left over from a hat for my sister, her jewelry is dollar store beads, and I just sort of winged her hat. Ain't she purty?

Can you believe my husband just rolled his eyes at me?

Cute! I love the fat elephant. I do agree that they should be fatter than all the others. Its pinkness reminds me of that scene from Dumbo. Sweet.

I love the elephant! I'm planning on making one, but as a total newbie to crochet...how would I expand it?

I just added 2 extra rows to roxycraft's body pattern. You do the first 3 rows as written, then before doing the work even rows, do one more increase row of 2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc, and so on around. Then work the even rows, then do the decreases, adding the extra row before the last three--sc2tog, 1 sc in next 4 sc, and so on.
It doesn't seem like it should make such a difference, but it really does. Good luck with your elephant.

Surprisingly, none of them have names. I usu. name things, too. I'll have to think about that.

All of them are from the patterns by Roxycraft. For the ears you basically just crochet a few chains, then work 2 sc into each stitch for a few rows--if I remember correctly. Her patterns are all adorable.
