Tutorial: hobo-jordy bag

Someone asked for a tutorial of my hobo-jordy bag (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=5188.0)
So here it is!
First step: drawing the pattern.



This is the scheme. I hope it is clear enough.
Fold you paper in two. Then draw!
It measures 15 cm from A to D
20 cm from D to E
24 cm from B to C
2 cm from A to B (to form a perfect square in the upper-left side)
the line from C to E is hand-drawed.

Once you have the base pattern, you cut a strip of paper that measures 4 cm x 60 cm, or as much as you prefer, depending on how long you want the straps to be. Remember that you can always decide to cut them shorter, but they will never grow up longer!
Join the strap to the rest of the pattern. This way.



Using the pattern, cut two part of outside fabric and two of lining leaving the seam allowance that you prefer.



Right side facing, sew on the sides as shown in the picture.



Always right side facing, turn the sewn part to the center so that you have those two little "empty" corner on the sides. Sew where shown.



Now take those corner and sew them, as shown. It's the old Jordy trick!




Do the same with the lining, but leave a part unsewn. I prefer leaving the centre-bottom.



Turn the outer fabric part on the right side and the lining on the wrong side.
The outer part goes into the lining. This way the right sides are facing.
Pin (and baste, if you are not as lazy as i am...) and sew following the entire border of the bag and straps.



give a nice shape to the straps.



Now turn everything inside out, letting the bag passing through the hole that you left unsewn in the lining (thanks Jordy!!! )
The most difficult part is to turn the straps inside out... so be patient!!!



Hand sew the hole once you have the bag on the right side.



Now stitch all around the bag (and straps, of course!)



Et voila! I added two inside pocket. Remember to sew them on the lining before you build the bag!



Tie a knot on the straps. The bag is ready!



You can add a pressure button to close it.

A quick question...does the knot in the handles make it hard to carry on the shoulders ?

Do you use something to help out turning inside out the straps? I find it very awkward! Or is there a trick to do easy and fast straps (in general, not related only to this bag style)?

I just bought a tool called a 'loop turner' for $2, but I haven't tried using it yet.  It's a metal stick, about 10" long, with a loop for your finger at one end, and a hook thing at the other, you feed it through your strap, hook it onto the far end, and then pull it through.  Like I said, I haven't tried it yet, but i have high hopes. 
Otherwise, I like to attach a diaper pin to one end, and push that into the tube.  Then you can work the diaper pin along (inside the tube) I think it's easier that way.

I make my own tube turners by going to the hardware store and getting the white plastic pipes (aka pvc pipe) and a wooden dowel. You put the pipe in the tube then push the end of the dowel thru the pipe. You can also buy something called turn it all, its like 8.00
