So we had an Alice in Wonderland theme this year, and I went as the dormouse.  I found these AMAZING miniature tea sets which were the basis for my whole costume.

brilliant, freaking brilliant!

no one will truly understand how proud my sister, her bf and I were of our costume in 2004 ( i didn't dress up last year because i was in a car accident on the 27th of oct.)

we decided..what game show does everyone love?
THE PRICE IS RIGHT OF COURSE!

my sister went as the contestant at the showcase showdown. she had the stand with the mic coming out of it, the big yellow name tag, wore a house coat and a personalized shirt with a message for bob.
her bf was bob barker, skinny little mic and all
i was Plinko. The plinko chips had velcro on the back and actually stuck to my shrit. i also had my hair up in a beehive and stuck some plinko chips in there too.I made the pinko chips out of cardboard and painted them exactly like on the show. i don't have a pic though.

Well last summer I made a Hogwarts costume for the release party.  I wore it on Halloween (though at work I had to wear pants and leave the robes at home Sad ), and then I wore it again for the movie premiere in November.  When I met James & Oliver Phelps!   Grin

And to go with the outfit, I made myself some books (I was going for the Hermione look) and a messenger bag to carry them in.

I wish!  I tried to make the robes using a tutorial and gave up so the night before the book release party I added burgundy lining and a patch to my graduation robes from college!  Smiley

I'm so happy to see this thread is still alive!  I just found it and have to share my kiddos costumes from last year...

AND  *waves at Mary Jo*  ... dang woman, I didn't know you'd met the twins!!!  Mmmmm, twins...   Wink

This is my daughter as Batgirl.  The body of the costume is a one piece leotard.  The Bat symbol is actually velcroed on so that it lays flat when it's on.  The gloves are dishwashing gloves with craft foam insterted in the sides.  The boots are custom-made spats out of yellow fabric with elastic in the top.  The utility belt is also custom.  You can't see it here, but it has pockets and she has a Batarang in one of the loops.  The mask is custom.  The cowl & cape came are adapted from costume patterns I already had.  What fun!

My son as Pippin, Guard of the Citadel in his "Pippin Singing" pose.  It is made from Simplicity Pattern 5520.  Adapting the pattern was really easy.  I added ribbon trim to emulate the embroidery on the original costume.  The belt, scabbard and gauntlets are custom made from pleather.  The Tree of Gondor was stenciled on with a stencil I drew myself.  The sword was from a costume supply store.  I wrapped the handle in the same pleather to match.  The furry feet and cloak are recycled from his Frodo costume from the year before.  I got the idea for those here:  http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/

And my one of my dear friend's son as Harry Potter's owl Hedwig
(I made this one, too  Smiley )

Halloween is almost here again and I CAN'T WAIT!!! Grin

Yeah, they were at a movie theatre in my area during the premiere weekend.  They were so awesome!  Smiley
