i've seen these kinds of things (made by eagle creek, for example) and they look great for packing and holding all those carefully ironed items into place -- but the cost is too high for me so i decided to make my own!

i took a large book (roughly the same area as a folded shirt), traced it onto newspaper print, drew on some "flaps", cut and stiched and added some snaps! very simple and now my clothes don't get messed up in duffel bags or large luggage pieces!

That's a really cool idea! I've never seen anything like that before.

From the book Godless:

Just Al: I know that God is real. I feel his presence in my heart
Me: What does it feel like?
Just Al: It's hard to describe Jason. It feels good.
Me: Oh. I thought maybe it was like heartburn or something.

That's really cool. I bet you could save space in suitcases with that too. ^.^

hey! thanks guys :-) obsessed, you CAN do it! you only need to be able to stitch a line, or even just cut out fabric and iron the edges and use fabric glue to hold it down! i've "hemmed" or finished the edges with glue LOADS!!!

i don't think i've seen anything like this either. what a great idea to make them yourself! a few of those and some zip pouches would be a great gift for someone who travels a lot. hmm maybe neat to to use different designs for multiple people sharing a suitcase. this promptly needs to go on my 'to do' list!

That's totally awesome! I'm doing handmade gifts for everyone in my family this year because I think it's nice (and my hubby and I are flat broke) and that would be great for my dad! He travels for his job and is only home one week out of every month. Cool idea!! Thanks!!! Cheesy

Very Cool! Smiley  I am going to make one for me!  I am going on my first trip to London and I want to make sure I look fashionable and not wrinkled!  Thanks for the idea!  btw did you stamp the design on the front?  It looks really nice. Grin

i'm so glad you guys like them and think they'd be useful, too! i live\work abroad, so i always use those huge "duffels-on-wheels" type luggage when going back and forth -- problem is, there is no frame for them so everything always gets jumbled around inside! with these packs, i can easily access stuff and everything stays pretty tidy!

i got the inspiration from these things:
http://www.eaglecreek.com/packing_solutions.html

i'd love to make the packing cubes, too, but i hate doing zippers!

please post pics if you make some!! oh, and the triangle piece was just a scrap of fabric that i stitched on for decoration :-)
