Hi everyone- I was just wondering if anyone has heard from Rakuette? I see she is "in process" for quite a few swaps. I'm not sure if maybe she is affected by the current hurricanes or if she has let anyone else know about some reason she will be MIA. I see that she has not been active since the 20th. She is in the Significant Other Swap and I do not know if we should consider her a flaker. Thanks for reading this and I appreciate it if anyone could let me know if you know anything. Thanks!  Smiley

I spoke with her a week ago or so. She was in my t-shirt swap... at one point she was affected by the hurricane, but I'm not sure what her status is now.

She sent out fine though, but she is in the area effected by hurricanes.

She's running this swap if you still need more information you may want to read it.  She hasn't been on the site since the 25th.

She has not responded to anyone's pms in over 2 weeks. She has been totally missing. She is a FLAKER for the Significant Other Swap.

Could you please reflect that in her feedback (you can always change if she pulls through) cause the clianm in the obsession is that she has no negative feedback so it's not a problem.
Then we can get that figured out.
(If possible it would help)

She was my swap partner and also the organizer of the Samhain swap I was in. Haven't heard from her.

She was really communicative about the project as far as IMs go, then just kinda dropped out of contact. It just seems really unlike her to communicate about a project so much and then flake out, so I don't think she's done that. Perhaps she's overwhelmed, and even more so by threads like this...

But I agree, she could at least let us know if she still intends to finish the swaps she's in/started.

As for me...I don't know if  I'll swap anymore. This was my first one, and I'm just really disappointed that I've been left hanging, let alone by the organizer of the swap.

Sometimes it helps to reach out in a nice way to find out about a problem.  As partners we each get personal emails and home addresses.  If a person is avoiding Craftster because it hurts to see what is being said, they may not be getting pms and it becomes easier to just fade out rather than face the music that their delay and non-communication has created.

Perhaps a note like "Say am concerned, have not heard from you.  Would appreciate a note as I/we would like to get on with the preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', '....................') swap and  would like to get angel/angels in place if you are unable to fullfill your commitment in this swap.

Personally, I find swapping challenging, a bit scary, yet it can also be very rewarding.  So I check out the organizer pretty carefully, and try and maintain contact with partner.   This thread caught my eye, as Rakuette was my partner in a stash swap.  That swap occurred during the Katrina hit, Rakuette was affected by Katrina.  She was very late in sending but did come through beautifully.  I suspect there is much more to clean up and getting it together after such a disaster as Katrina than one might expect and would be easy to get overwhelmed.  The challenge to us as craftster community members is how to get people to let us know when they are in trouble in swaps without dragging their "personal issues" into the open.   Perhaps we need to set a personal time limit and if one does not hear from a partner, contact partner, then contact organizer, then swap mod, then swap angel.

That's good advice.  I've started to do the same.  I won't join a swap unless I'm pretty sure the organizer is up to the challenge.  Organizing a swap is pretty time-intensive - I myself didn't realize how hard it was to do a good job.  You basically have to be able to check Craftster at least every other day until the swap is completely finished, and that means until the swap angel packages are confirmed as received.  I also try to pair up people with the same amount of  swap experience, so that if there are flakers, hopefully they'll get paired with each other - that takes some thought and lots of checking of people's posts and profiles.   After the send-out date, I continue to check the profiles of possible flakers to see what other feedback they've gotten.  Whew - and it doesn't help to do any of this on the cruddy dial-up I'm using!
