Has anyone tried out this technique?  http://www.clotilde.com/cl/product_group.asp?g_id=672002
I saw a sample in a store the other day of an amazingly funky bag, and I want to learn more about it- before I spend too much $$ on books, supplies, etc.

Thanks for any input

What a neat idea!  I never saw that before. Please let us know if you use it and post a pic of what you make.  Smiley

I saw that technique on Sewing with Nancy not too long ago.  She made a scarf.  I didn't think the end result looked much like knitting but it was attractive and unique.  Nancy used fabric strips, interesting yarns and colored thread.  So go for it!

To make it inexpensive, get some water soluble stabilizer from the fabric store, lay out and sew your design then dissolve the stabilizer in water and you are left with cool fabric you make yourself.

And pleeeeease post what you make!

I saw some amazing fabric (either at a fancy fabric store or at a japanese textile exhibit) that consisted of ribbons sewn together using this same technique.  It was really beautiful. Some were cross crossed  vertical and horizontal and others were just zig zagging all over the place sewn onto soluble base.

If I ever stumble onto a bag of beautiful silk ribbon. I'd love to try this.

That's pretty crazy- it's cool, though.

Post something if you make anything!

Well, i hinted to Santa that I might like the book, so we shall see.  If I do try it, rest assured I'll post about it- after all, I'm a feedback junkie  Wink

So, I got a book on this technique for Xmas, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1571203036/104-7709670-3969541?v=glance&n=283155 , and I tested it out on making a tote bag- not quite finished yet.    Hereis the bag, folded over and ready for a handle and lining...

I find this a fun way to use up fabric stash. A bit tricker than the basic yarns I have worked with- less give.  But really fun!
