for the past week i've been going crazy sewing, especially felt applique!
here is what i have been up to lately Smiley

felt bag for a friend's birthday. i still have to sew on the straps. Smiley i made a pocket inside and on the back. the back pocket is bigger than the inside so you can't see the inside pocket's stitching Smiley sorry, i feel really clever for that one hahaha

a little bag for my sister, who is obsessed with giraffes!

some felt fruit. no purpose. maybe i'll applique them to something hehe

ipod cosy for my roommate!!

I love all of these! Do you do hand-applique, or do you use a machine? I always shy away from applique, scared of messing things up...

nooo! don't be afraid of messing things up. felt is virtually indestructible, and it doesn't need to be turned under because it will never fray. i do machine stitches, which is why they are not perfect, like on the curves but it really doesn't matter. to me anyway. besides hand stitching takes too long and unless it's something really small, i just don't have the patience. i am always too excited about my new project to sit and hand stitch it Smiley

Oh my god, I'm so in love with the giraffe bag.  I'm so envious of you crafty kids who dive right into applique.

And hoping for an early death you swam so far you lost your breath, and struggling in the ebb and flow I took your hand, but you let go...
And now the ocean fills your lungs, and now you've got what you had come for, resting peaceful as you sink to drown under a sea of strangers.

My favorites are the fruit and the giraffe bag. Good for you that you do the machine applique. Instant gratification!  It looks like you had lots of fun.  Grin

While we have the gift of life, it seems to me that the only tragedy is to allow part of us to die - whether it is our spirit, our creativity, or our glorious uniqueness.           Gilda Radner
