wow it is so cool to get feedback! thanks!
if you understood how easy this was you'd laugh, but making a tutorial is HARD so bear with me
1. cut front of non-hoodie sweatshirt in half and cut off collar
2. fold down and iron (unless you are lazy like me)
FLIP
3. turn inside out and get friend to pinch the back while you hold it closed to make the back darts (at least i think that's what they are called) and sew
4. (this part is kinda complicated and can be skipped if you sew the darts all the way up to the shoulder) cut across back and UP around arms from armpit to shoulder
5. pin from center lining the shoulderblade strip up with the newly-narrower waist part and sew
6. sew around armhole
7. cut excess dart fabric out of back and sew together in the middle (cuz its not really big enough otherwise) then cut to pleasing collar-shape (unlike my ugly drawing
)
8. center and attach to old collar/neck part
9. wrap yourself up and pin with funky pin or use buttons if you are that talented
ok, i hope that was coherent
happy crafting!

Ooohh. I really like that! It looks a hundred tons better than it did before. And I really like the pin holding it together. Very hip. I'd keep it just like that.
Hmm.. I never thought it was such a good thing that thrift stores seem to always have a million sweatshirts. Yay for you!

A big "me too!" on how good this looks, but also a big "me too!" on not understanding step four. Also a big "me too!" on requesting a picture of the finished back of the blazer, because that's the part I'm having trouble picturing.
I want to make a billion of these for work! Yeah!

this project is one of the many that i have yet to get around to doing...
the Gap is selling blazers and peacoats made out of a sweatshirt material...
http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5742&pid=422026
http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6951&pid=422064
...and i feel re-inspired to make myself a jacket!!!
has anyone attempted making a blazer from scratch out of sweatshirt (fleece?) material?

Yeah I don't really like te colors on the target blazers. Besides they are too expensive. And everytime my mom sees something that isn't finished around the edges, she says "why would you buy something that's already broken?" So I must go to the thrift store (probably tomorrow, they're probably closed on new years)
