Being Irish and working to European patterns and needle sizes, i am a wee bit confused by the American sizes of needles which most of you mention.

Does anyone have a conversion chart for US to European needle sizes?

The chart I use all the time (I keep a printed version inside my notions bag) is the following:

http://www.tata-tatao.to/knit/japanese/needle.gif

from the great Japanese site http://www.tata-tatao.to/knit/e-index.html

It gives precise equivalents between metric, US, old UK imperial AND Japanese systems.

BTW, I read in another thread you had trouble converting inches to cm. Did you know you can use google to convert measure units? Just type, for instance, "23 inches in cm" or "130 yards in m" and you'll get the answer. Very handy when you're browsing patterns on the net.

We have the most simple system in The Netherlands for knitting needles as well as crocheting needles: the numbers reflect the size in mm's.
So you can understand that your systems confuses me too.
Thanks for the sites.

That first chart was exactly what I was looking for!!! I love craftster: you have a question, do a search, and viola!

And the converting measure units by google, brilliant! Just brilliant! Going to try it right now.
