It is a plastic like material, so it probably is bakelite. Heck, what do I know?


Bakelite has a distinctly formaldehyde-like aroma when rubbed hard enough to create warmth, or when put under pretty hot water.

Just posting to say hi to my fellow purse revamperesses! (vampiresses?) anyway, i'm so excited about this whole purse project and i'm gathering my materials to start on MadelBlue's like canvas backpack whatsit this week. (Oh, and thanks for posting the pic of my before bag, MadelBlue!)

glitteratti, your bag doesn't look quite like that anymore. Today it made a short visit to my husband's workshop, where I performed a quick but painless surgical procedure.

i found an awesome bag today for 50 cents!!...i'll post pics tomorrow.

EDIT: well, i kind of am thinking that this purse might be a bit difficult to modify, but i love purses with this shape and i love the closure! but let me know if you cant do it and ill get another! oh and i also found a grocery bag FULL of ribbon for a dollar! yay!  Grin
