Seeing all these has got my brain going overtime...

http://202.21.128.20/photoserver/69/14072469_full.jpg

I realllyyyy want to make one of these dresses for summer, and I want red and white dots. I wouldn't mind the dots being blue, green, pink or anything else, but red and white is DEFINITELY my first choice. I am yet to see fabric like this at any fabric stores, and I was wondering if anyone else had. Specifically, stores in Christchurch. I'll probably wing it in the end, but does anyone know of a pattern like any of them?

Thanks,

-G.

SPOTLIGHT!!!

I too am an absolute sucker for polkadots...and Spotlight catered to my need (or perhaps you could call it an obsession??) There are a couple in Wellington, but I'm not so sure about ChCh, having never been there.

they had small dots, medium dots and large dots, and all the colours were very candylike (bright red, grassy green, navy blue, yellow, orange...) with white dots. all about $10 a metre (but a decent width - personally I didn't let that stop me from going nuts!) I was in heaven. My only disappointment was that it was light cotton, and I went on my spree in the middle of winter. But it's fine now!

I saw a butterick pattern kinda like the dress on the left yesterday (I think it was on the cover, a retro pattern) but you sound like the kind of girl who could adapt a pattern at the drop of a hat. I made a great top with my red+white dots fabric by adapting the pattern of a new look dress (the photo was a polka dot dress - hmm, wonder if that had anything to do with me buying it?) and it looks great! one of these days i will get around to posting it on here!

When I was in Haralds Fabric last week I saw polka dot fabric in white with blue dots and blue with white dots. I cant remember the exact price, but it was somewhere in the $6-$10 range. The only problem is I cant remember if it was the Papanui Rd store or the Birmingham Dr. store, as I went to both last week.  On a side note they had really cool astronaut/space fabric at the Birmingham Dr. store, which I of course had to get.

I too have seen spotty red stuff at Spotlight - about 8.99 a metre (100% cotton, light fabric).

Its in a series called "spots and stripes" and they wear quite well - I have my hoodies hood and pocket lined with it Smiley
