I had a great time this summer making my wedding dress for my September 15th wedding.  I don't have a lot of photos of it at the moment until our photos are done being printed, but i do have this one:

You can see the colored layering of the skirts in this photo, and hopefully soon I'll have a shot with a clean view of the beading along the bodice.

My best friend also got married this fall, and we made the skirt portion of her dress while we were making mine.  Once I get some photos from her reception this weekend I'll post that too.

Yes, I used Simplicity 4877, View A but long.  I made two versions of this dress and I had to add darts to make it shaped correctly for my bust in both situations, and I changed the front panels to a single piece cut on the fold instead of two pieces with a center front seam.

im not too fantastic at sewing, i can do straigt seams and things like that, but i have a month to do it.

all i want to do is a simple dress with short sleeves for our wedding in july

is it possible for a beginner?

I don't see why not! Make sure you get some cheap fabric and make a mock up (known as a muslin or toile) to make sure it fits first - make any alterations at that point and then go ahead and make the dress! Choose something like a 'very easy, very Vogue' pattern (there is a section in the Vogue patterns book I seem to recall)as I know from experience that they are much easier to follow the instructions and have a better cut than the other brands.
Keep reporting back and I'm sure we will be able to help - especially if you post a photo of yourself in the first version.

thanks. i have to locate a sewing machine (mine is just very simple and having an issue right now) and decide on a fabric. i have 4 weeks maybe to do it. it needs to have sleeves and be modest (we are LDS getting marriwed in the church) any suggestions for a pattern. i have his clothes covered and the rings covered so the dress is really the lat major peice. i hope i can do it. im not too good with patterns but i know with a good pattern some patience and prater i can do it.
