Here's what I got from jan_on_ice today! First is a beautiful handbound book:

The photo doesn't really do the paper justice...it's nicely textured with flowers and leaves in it. I just might make this my swap notebook. It's so pretty.

And for a little bonus:

Look at this precious little guy! (I hope the photo's not too dark. If it is, that's his eyes and nose down at the lower left corner.) He's a hedgehog pincushion that fits on your wrist. How could I ever stick pins in him, though? He's too cute! I will have to watch him carefully. One of my daughters is showing way to much interest in him!

Thanks so much, jan_on_ice! I absolutely love what you sent me! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you receive your package from me very soon!!

Well here's what I got from Jan_on_ice! I love it! I wasn't expecting this stuff at all!

Blue poodle skirt and crochet hook:

And one with the poodle skirt on

(nevermind the look on my face, I had to do this with the camera timer and I was looking at the camera waiting for the picture to be taken)

And right after that, I opened a box from rackycoo, this is what I got Smiley

Cap'n Hairball and some pretty earrings Smiley

I LOVE it all, thanks guys Smiley I can't wait til I'm done and I can send out to everyone.

OMG! I just recieved the most amazing package from rackycoo! (I had lots of fun unwrapping it all!!)

She sent me this incredible nautical-themed (treasure) box, some cute fishy earrings (that are on a paint sample card, which is of course called "Blue Island"), and some vanilla body spray (mmmmm.... how'd you know?... heehee Wink)

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/6442rackycoo3.jpg

The box has all these vintage looking nautical maps all over it, a compass, an octopus (because no map is complete without the scary sea monster!), fishies, sequins, and a piece of worn glass from the British Virgin Islands. Inside is a fishy blowing out sequin bubbles and some pretty brown padding at the bottom.

Here's some pics of the front and back:

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/6442rackycoo1.jpg

(If you squint hard and use some imagination, you can see the word "OCEAN" on the lid, "ISLAND" on the side and my name on the back Wink)

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/6442rackycoo4.jpg

It really is the most amazing treasure box (these pics just don't do it justice - if you have any better pics rackycoo, please post them) and I love it so much! I have just sprayed myself with the vanilla and it smells just like the stuff I used to get...mmmmmm yum! And I am going to wear the fishy earrings for luck for my Biology of Fish exam next week!

Thanks again rackycoo! I love everything!

(Oh and that Cap'n Hairball is awesome too!!)

I'm so glad the box made it! Now that it's there, I must confess my guilty secret...I was so excited to find the vanilla body spray, that when the Post Office asked me if there was anything liquid in the package, I "forgot" about it and said no. I have been so worried that someone might hear sloshing and confiscate the goods!

Fun swap, humblestumble! I really enjoyed getting to know you better!

Oh man I've been having a rough day today with my other swap (it just finished) ... I finally heard from everyone over there, and we only had one sorta- flaker. Now that everything is almost final with it, I must go work on everyone's stuff!  Grin

Now I know FOR SURE what I'm making everybody, and I'm hoping (and pretty sure) everyone will at least like it at some level Smiley Hurray!

Everything is going soooo well in this swap! Thank you guys! I think this is definitely how I'm doing things with future organizations... hoo. 4 people is plenty Smiley I may have more (whenever I do organize again...), but not 31-32 people! good lord...Had a scare of 4 flakers, but now I've heard from everyone Smiley And things are working out! Yeay  Cheesy

Looking forward to seeing what you and sporkx71 have been up to... Smiley

Gosh, don't I know it! It was a cool experience, and I'm still ironing the kinks out of that swap (some people are sending late), but man it was a lot of PMing! And a lot of updating...which I will still be doing.

I can't wait to see sporkx71's labor of love either Smiley And I can't wait til I'm done with mine. Hopefully I can have hers out in the mail tomorrow Smiley

Well, Sporkx71 received today too! So I will post a pic of what I sent her also:

She really likes Nirvana, so I stenciled Kurt Cobain on a pink shirt with some glitter black

And she decoupaged ( is this the right term?) a sketchbook for me:

Excuse the shine! It was the best pic I could get. So pretty!

Look what I got from humblestumble!! It's an awesome knit pillow with Napolean Dynamite on it! Look:

It's my favorite colors (lime green and black) and it looks so great up in the Lava Lounge that I just had to take a picture of it there:

See how perfectly it matches the pillows that I already had? Thanks so, so much, humblestumble! I know this was a ton of work, and I love it. My girls will flip when they come home and see this!! We all love Napoleon!

Thanks for organizing such a fun swap.

I'm so so glad that it fits in so well! I had NO idea! I mean I knew you liked lime green, but my pillow wasn't exactly that color. So now I'm glad it's a little off Smiley Hurray Hurray!

It's not the exact color of the walls in that room, but that would be boring. It is the exact color of those pillows, though! The painting of my dog in my avatar is also up here in the same room.

I love that green...

Whoo hoo!! I got an awesome package from humblestumble yesterday!!
She sent me this amazing neck pillow, which is of a mermaid wrapped around your neck - so comfortable and just what I need for crocheting in bed! She also made me this cool hemp bracelet with shells on it, which I am wearing right now. Thanks so much humble, I love them both!

Please post pics if you have them - I don't have my camera right now and probably won't get it for a while, and your pictures will probably be a lot better than mine anyway.

Thanks again!! Grin

Dangit, lol. I didnt have charged batteries when I wanted to take pictures of the mermaid, but I'll upload and post my webcam picture of the mermaid and my digicam pic of the bracelet.

So GLAD you like them! My boyfriend though that it was kinda creepy that the mermaid's face was on both sides.

Those are much better pictures than what I would have been able to do with my camera, but she looks much better in person. She has these really cute glittery lips! And I like it that she has a face on both sides! That way, it doesn't matter which way I put her around my neck Cheesy

Thanks again humble!

you're welcome! I had fun making them Smiley And the macrame was so much easier than I imagined! It's just like the beginning of tie-ing shoes, just over and over and over again - it ends up with this spiral! It's just so neat!

And the mermaid was trial and error... at first I thought of making you an octopus or something like  that magnetic cell that you made for a biolgy friend...then I found out that was your post.

I also had this idea to make you a striped octopus hat...kinda like a rasta, or a beanie with legs dangling, but then I found out you weren't too fond of hats, so I decided mermaids were the best way to go...and then I was like "whoa, mermaid neck pillow! That's useful, and cute!" So, I did a test run and it went smoothly, then I did the real thing and the fabric started to stretch a little bit, so the tail doesnt look exactly like i intended it, and initially I wasn't going to stitch the arms like I did, but when I stuffed it, it didnt look like arms.

Hey humble, being the geek that I am I was thinking how much the twisting pattern you used on my bracelet looks so much like a strand of DNA, that I was wondering whether it's possible to make it so that it's colour coded like an actual DNA diagram? ie. all the same colour going around the outside of the strand, and alternating colours in the middle. Or is it made so that you have to use every piece of hemp alternately??

Hmm.... I think it's possible to do it that way. Because you use two strands folded over, one's longer than the other though. But I don't think you can see the shorter string because you're continually tying knots around it. Maybe if you died it in such a way, it may be able to...Cause really it's just the same pretzel knot around a string the whole way down. So what you see in the "middle" is one of the side of hemp crossing the other side. Make sense? At first I thought it may be possible that you could have two different colored peices of hemp, but now I don't think so because you never see the string inside. If the longer of the two peices of hemp was colored, then the whole necklace would be, say green, if the color was green. But if you went in with a dropper and died it, then I'm sure you could. I hope this makes sense lol.  Huh  Cool

Oh ok, I get what you mean. It's a shame though, coz I know heaps of science geeks that would love DNA bracelets! I might just have to make them then colour all the bits in afterwards (which will probably take forever!).
