THRIFT STORE PURSE REVAMP SWAP signups: CLOSED 1st mail 11/11

I loved the thrift store pic revamp http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=35171.160
and was thinking that if I received a great pic like those I wouldn't want to just hang it in my house,
I would want to really show it off and carry it around. Thus, the thrift store purse revamp swap was born.

How it will work:
You buy a purse, totebag, clutch, ect. at a thrift store.
You mail it off to your swap partner.
Your swap partner mails you a bag.
You both revamp, re-do, glamorize, make-over and art-ify each others bags and return them.

No restrictions on the type of bag you choose, anything mobile you can carry your wallet in, except *please* no suit-case size bags due to shipping costs.

Please post a "before" pic in the gallery if you are able to.
 
Send out your "before" bag by 11/11/2005.
Return the revamped bag by 12/02/2005 (please factor in shipping times)
Please PM me when you ship your original bag and when you ship out the revamped bag.

This sounds awesome!! I can't really sew but I'm sure I can spif-a-fy a thrift store bag-- sounds like fun. I don't want to sign up and be the odd numbered swapper but if someone else signs up I definitely want to participate.

If there is an odd number I can send out and revamp twice, if no one objects. I have three bags waiting for the round II and III of this swap *giggle*

this sounds fun...what would you do to revamp a purse made of leather? i dont want to join and have zero ideas of what to do...

you could paint it...or sew appliques onto it...you could cover it with a mesh fabric or change the lining in a completely fabulous way! You could cut the leather into strips and weave another fabric into it....just a few ideas...some more intense than others...but I think its possible to revamp a leather bag too...maybe...
