I made some of these the other day and they're so fun! I would love to donate mine to the hospital, then i can make as many as I want without feeling guilty about cluttering my room! well heres the picture of my monster...

(sorry about it being huge I dont know how to resize yet)

I edited this to make the photo appear smaller. You can do it like so:
Code:

First I'm going to call the local hospital on Monday and see if they have any restrictions.  If anyone is interested, I'll keep you guys updated.
Bah, I forgot to do that today.  Oh well, I'll do it tomorrow.

I just gathered my 3 daughters around to view the tutorial.  We might be making these tomorrow! Thanks!  I love the colors you used, too.

i might make mine outta fleece. how different would that be?

I've never worked with fleece.. I think it would be more durable, probably softer too. Try to get rather thin fleece if you plan to make a small one or it will be really hard to turn..

yay i made one last night. she took me like 3 hours though!! she is stuffed with dryer sheets 'cause i'm going camping in a bit and it looks much more normal to have a stuffed dryer sheet doll on your shoulder than dryer sheets hanging out of your pants. (see http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=2734.0)

i found tweezers really helpful in turning her inside out to stuff. i hot glued yarn to her head and so she has really full Hagrid hair now. oh well...she may not be cute but she's mine and she smells divine!

i made a throne worthy of a mosquito goddess (green 3x5 notecards..haha)

photos are here: http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/sarahzz15 (album is called mosquito goddess)

If you don't like the look of hot glue on top of your monster, you could always knot one end of the yarn push it through the top pf the head with a needle like I did.  I only did a few strands, but I'm lazy like that.  Worth a shot, anyway.

You're monster is so cute though!  Looks like a Cabbage Patch kid wadered into Sesame Street and was transformed!   Cheesy

Here's a couple of felt critters I made for the Creatures swap that Waterbaby has organised... the bright yellow one is made of fleece and the other 2 are made from felt. I found the felt was easier to work with

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/biancajb/album?.tok=phtuNTBBe5pXr_W9&.dir=/669d&.src=ph

um and this is my first post of something I made...hope it works!

Thanks for your tute Nina...I have made critters before but your instructions gave me some really good tips for making them much butter! I used to use a knitting needle to help turn my creatures the right way out and I always used to stab through the seams! And I had never thought to sew aroudn the shape before cutting either!

Wow, how did I miss this thread until now? Tongue

Great tutorial, nina!  I've been making felt monsters for about a year and a half now, and I am totally addicted!
