Thanks for the appreciation!
wow, that's nifty. is it write-able? and how brittle is it?
It's not soft but it doesn't break or crumble if if you touch it which is how I think of brittle. It's really thin and flat. You could write on it maybe even with a soft pencil -an HB, or a marker.
Here's how it's done.
Supplies
2 pounds (1kilo) carrots
newspapers or papertowels
Old towels or rags
2 pieces of plywood
C-clamps or whatever else will hold the wood together hold
Instructions
Boil or otherwise soften about two pounds of carrots.
Slice the carrots into 1/4 " (8mm) pieces.
Put a few pieces of newspaper on one of the boards
Put a towel/rag/diaper on top of the newspaper and
layer your carrots on top of that.
Make sure that your carrots overlap slightly.
When you're happy with your layering put a cloth
and some more newspaper on top of it.
Place the second board on top.
You now have a board sandwich with newspaper, cloth, carrots,
cloth, newspaper in between.
Clamp the board tightly on each side.
If you don't have clamps use phone books or anything heavy.
Wait a day.
Open it up and replace the wet newpapers and cloth with dry ones.
Wait another day and replace the papers and cloth again..
After two or three days of this you will have carrot paper.
Admire your carrot paper.
Take a picture or scan it.
