Topic: making another monster purse, but i need fabric and a gift help!  (Read 1028 times)

So, after about a half a year since I finished my first monster purse, the poor thing is starting to come apart. The seams are ripping ((it was handsewn, so they're not that strong to begin with)), the fabric loops for the straps are breaking, the fur is all dingy, and the edges of the mouth are fraying. Here's the purse when it was first finished.

My friend Angelia is absolutly positively inlove with my purse. She even named it Sir. Scrumpalots, a.k.a. Scrumps. She ADORES this thing. I was thinking of emptying it out and sewing the main part shut like a pillow, leaving the flap intact as a mouth, and giving it to her as a Christmas present or something. What do you guys think?

Fabric help! What is that soft, fuzzy fabric called that they use on baby plush toys a lot? Here's an example, its a TY baby beanie baby. I'm sure Wal*Mart or Jo-Anns Fabrics has it, I just need to know the name. Is it some kind of chenille or something?

I would say it's minky. I want to cover all of my pillows with that, it's so soft! Fabric.com has several colors, and you can find it at most fabric stores.

Ooh thank you ((Both you and Jelly)). My mom has a sweater made out of I believe the same material, this helps a lot. I can't wait until I get some birthday money now so I can go buy some.  Grin
