Yes, that's right. I used to live in Singapore, and everybody there wears flipflops. And generally when you go there, people shuffle along without picking up their feet, so you fall over.

I'm sorry to have made a sweeping statement; you're right, it was rude and I shouldn't have. So I can only apologise for my impolite words. I'm sorry.

I used to live in Singapore too Wink...and I'm sure nobody was really offended *hugs*  Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything about it  Undecided

I'm Chinese but raised in Canada since I was 9 months old.  When I first met my husband, he asked me why I never picked up my feet when I wore flip-flops.  Funny, until then I hadn't realized that I shuffled when wearing flip-flops.  Flustered, my only response was that my parents walked like - that's how you're supposed to walk in flip-flops.  After that, I started picking up my feet, but I noticed that people of Asian descent all tend to shuffle when wearing flip-flops (or for seniors, slide-on house slippers).  I told my little sister in the UK about it, and her response was the same as mine - it was like a light went on in her head.  Smiley
