I'm trying to learn how to crochet but I'm having some trouble.  My vision is impaired and I have trouble seeing the stitches. What is the easiest kind of yarn to learn with.  I think I might need something larger so I can  see what I'm doing better.

I'm starting to get discouraged.  Any ideas?

Maybe something really chunky (but smooth) would be better? Like rug yarn?

Are you using a worsted weight yarn now or something thinner?  I agree that a smooth yarn is key -- you might want to try something like Lion Brand's CottonEase, which doesn't seem to fray very much when you're working with it.
