I took my kids to see the new Wallace and Gromit movie. During it Gromit had a knitting scene and my two year old yelled, "Mommy you do that!" And of course I was knitting at the time.

My boyfriend said "Can you make me a Grommit?" Since I love to knit stuffed animals. I thought it was so sweet and such a validation of what I do. Has anyone considered this- has any ideas?

I've heard rumors of out of print ,yet still copyrighted, knitting patterns of all the characters. I have yet to get my hands on these. I really want to though.

Oooh me too me too!
Maybe if one of us finds it we can share the cost and the pattern?? I know this is a little bad on the copyright front, but not terrible. Especially if it's out of print so hard to find.

I JUST FOUND THEM! There's a bunch on e-bay under Gromit pattern. They're Pattons patterns so they're probably pretty good!

I have a lead from a knitting friend who may be able to e-mail me a few of the patterns. She doesn't have all of them, and she's not sure if she got back the last few that did still have. I guess she's loaned then out quite a bit. Keep your fingers crossed.

Why not adapt one of the existing doll patterns out there to become Wallace and/or Gromit? SnB Nation has those punk rock dolls, and I saw another book out recently that had some cute projects:

Knitted Babes:

I made a freeform frog for my friend's wedding out of odd balls and scrap, and it was really fun to experiment...

That's what I was thinking. If I can't get the patterns I'll try to make one on my own. My boyfriend is dying to see the movie. We might go tonight. I was thinking a knitted Wallace would be an awesome christmas present.
