I got back into crocheting right about the same time I started planning what to cosplay at Anime Weekend Atlanta, and this lead to me deciding that I should make a second costume, but this one crocheted instead of taking the easy route and sewing it.

So here it is: Rinoa's main outfit from Final Fantasy VIII.

It was a simple outfit to adapt to crochet, but time consuming.  The duster, arm warmers, skirt, and the buttons on the skirt are crocheted.  The only sewing was adding the zippers to the biker shorts.  I was worried about how well it would hold up, but it turned out to be incredibly comfortable to wear, even when outside walking around in the heat.  I ended up wearing it for about 12 hours, including at a concert and a dance.

The duster/arm warmers are Caron Simply Soft, and the skirt is from TLC Essentials.

Here's a bonus reference pic for comparison:

Thanks everyone!  Cheesy

Yep! That was a second bit of sewing that I keep forgetting about.  I was planning on using a stencil and painting them on, but in the end decided it wasn't worth the risk of ruining the duster.  So, I just used my stencil to cut them out of  some white material and hand-stitched them on.  Eventually I'll get around to taking a picture of them.

I took some notes while working on it, and if I can find them again, I'll try writing up a pattern.
