This is so amazing - thanks for posting the tutorial!

I'm worried about this getting dusty - has anyone tried putting any type of light polyurethane sealing spray, or would that just complete ruin the tissue?

you could probably just blow the dust off with a hair dryer, or a can of compressed air.

that's really cool!  i've been on the lookout for fun new lamps (my room stays very dark, despite the blindingly bright green walls), and i bet that would look great.

by the way, where did u get your forum picture?

I'm getting ready to try making my first star lamp like the one in the tutorial (THANK YOU, by the way!).  Anybody know where I can get the corded light I need to go inside the lamp??  All I've found at the couple places I've looked are some kind of bottle lamp kit, but that doesn't look like the right thing.

You can buy them at the hardware store. It's basically an extension cord with a light bulb socket on the end. They're very inexpensive, around $5 or so I think.

I bought one at Target.  I bought another one a while back through American Science & Surplus.  They also had ones that had sockets for 3 low-wattage bulbs on a single cord so that you could put several together.
