So I'm ready to spend my Joann's gift certificate, and I plan to do it online, except that when I sat down to do it (at work AND at home), I couldn't access the website. I don't have a problem at all with going to the store, but it'd be nice to do from home all the same. So I tried again the next day. Still nothing. Today? Nothing. I'm really hoping that it's just a problem with the site, but I don't think so.

And then I read this high-drama article - http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-5889592.html) -  wherein two internet service providers are trying to bitchslap each other. This actually explains some of the problems I've had over the last few days with the net in general.

The article in a nutshell (at least this is how I read it - feel free to correct me!):

"I'm better than you!"
"You're SO not! I'm better than YOU!"
"Oh yeah? We'll I'll make it so your users can't use MY network!"
"Yeah? FINE! I'm doing the same!"
"FINE!"
"FINE!"

So screw the rest of us. I'm only thankful I can still get to  Craftster. Otherwise I'd sit in a corner and eat yarn.

Hmmm, now i'm confused because I was just able to access the site.  How long ago did you try?

About three seconds ago.  Embarrassed  It's not just Joann.com, though. There are lots of other sites that are either extremely slow or just plain won't open.

And this is happening on more than one computer?  It sounds like spyware or a virus or something.

Is that why the darn thing is lagging?!?  I hope they start playing nice pretty soon...because it's annoying me.  Word of advice...batter and deep fry the yarn before you eat it (if you have to eat it...)  Wink

And this is happening on more than one computer?  It sounds like spyware or a virus or something.

It's not adware or spyware, since I don't put anything - ever - on my system without checking it first, and I don't open email attachments unless I know what it is. Mcafee, Ad-Aware and I can proudly say my system's virus-, ad- and spy-ware free.

You might want to read the article I gave the link for above. It's definitely happening on more than one computer!

I can get to www.joanndesigns.co m, but not www.joann.com. Cruel, cruel fate!

Mmmm...batter fried yarn...

Hmm, I'm sorry this is happening to you.  I'll ask my computer geek hubby tonight when he gets home to see if he has an easy solution for you.

Yeah, it's not due to data-mining devices either (I'm paranoid...I have Ad-Aware and various anti virus software too).

I think the easiest solution will be if the two big network guys start playing nice.

Turns out that I get the same result on every computer on campus where I work (most I've tried are in the library and a few in a computer lab - yeah, I'm obsessed.)

I'm afraid that www.joann.com is simply on the opposing team's network. Now would be an excellent time for some young upstart to offer its net services to the world.

photobucket is another one of the websites screwed by this silly fued, I know lots of people here host their pix there so if you are all of a sudden not seeing your pictures that always worked before, that's probably the reason.  Tongue
