My collage was inspired by this dried apple I found while apple-picking last Sunday.  Some kind of bug or something had eaten away all of the fruit on the tree until only the leaves, skin, and core of the fruit were left.  It was perfectly dried and still hanging on the branch.  It was love at first sight!

I used some dried katydids, loteria cards, angels from wrapping paper, old x-acto knives, greeting cards, broken toys, song lists, and a plastic charm from a bottle of Celebrator beer.  For the base of my collage,  I rummaged through my closet and found this broken skirt (the zipper died) and bit of scrap.

I like to think of it as having a 'dystopia' theme (the gutted apple, razor blade, dirt-colored cordeuroy, etc.).

So anyway, here's a few pics, I may try to post some more details but I didn't want to flood you all with pictures... I hope you like it!  I do!

And the infamous apple:

And a detail (real katydid too!):

Yeah, actually, if anyone knows what I should use to preserve the katydids and apple, let me know!!!  I should probably have done that before I made the collage, but inspiration (and caffeine!) hit me and I just couldn't wait.  There are actually two katydids- look for the second  one hanging upside down from the flowered fabric!

Anyway, here are some more details (it's hard to tell, but the white and orange thing is a goose head from a Kinderegg toy):

One of the angels is just barely torn in half:

You did such an awesome job! I'd expect to see this in some new age art gallery.
Maybe you could get some spray sealer for the apple and bug...like the kind you'd use for acrylic paint. Not sure how well it would work though just only thing I could come up with.

Thanks!  And seriously, does anyone know what I should use for sealant?  I guess I should be making my way to the craft or hardward store to browse...
