Hey people!! I'm a newbie here and this is my first post. I bought this BUM sneakers  and I thought I want to cheer it up. So, what I do is I changed the boring black shoelaces into red ribbon shoelaces. So, what I do is:

Step 1:
You need scissor, ribbon (any color you like), candle, some matches and a pair of sneakers, of course.

Step 2:
Pull out the black shoelaces.

Step 3:
Cut out the ribbons. Make sure it is as the same length as the black shoelaces.

Step 4:
At the both end of the ribbons, cut out V shape. (This one is optional, you don't have to cut out if you don't want)

Step 5:
Fire up the candle!! Grin

Step 6:
Burn the both end of the ribbon. Make sure you don't burn it too close or it will get burnt.

Now, the reason we burn the ribbon is to prevent it looking like this:

Step 7:
After you burnt it, it will look something like this.

Step 8:
Now, tie it back

Repeat the instructions for the other shoe...
And voila, style it! Wink

Now, tell me what you think. My friend said she doesn't really like it but I need to know your opinion. Even my 1 year old niece like it. She was trying to untie the ribbon from the sneakers.  Cheesy How adorable.

I'm going to wear it this 2nd semester.  Grin

I sorta like it. The idea is brilliant. But somehow I imagine the ribbon on some sweet brightly-coloured shoes. Perhaps the black-red doesn't work for me. Still, the idea is ingenious.

None taken. I knew that's common actually. I just thought I could spare my time with this. I appreciate the replies.  Smiley

I like it. Very cool.

Maybe I'm silly, but I just never thought of burning the ends of the ribbon to keep it from fraying! Of course that's what they do (lol), so thanks for the idea.

it's simple, yes, but many people would never think to do it.  just because it's an easy project doesn't make it less valuable.

I think the shoes look adorable!  Nice tutorial, too, by the way.  I think I'm going to do this to a pair of my converse sneakers.

And thanks for showing the trick with burning the ribbon!  I had no idea!
