another pinwheel blanket - with baby!

recently someone posted pictures and a link to the pattern for this pinwheel baby blanket...so i got started and finished just in time for my little girl to snuggle up in it (she is 2 weeks old)! it was very easy, and looks more complicated so i get a lot of compliments. i used a cotton variegated yarn (gender neutral colors) and made a crochet border...she loves it.

What a beautiful baby!  and blanket!  I had seen that pattern a while ago but I had only seen pics of it in pastels, which didn't really appeal to me that much.    Yours looks so amazing!

I've had that blanket bookmarked for a while, but still haven't started.  I agree with the pastel comment.  Seeing yours makes me MUCH more excited to dive in.

patriautism, it's not hard, skillwise, but it does take a while, unless you use bigger needles and bigger yarn. check out the pattern at that link, and if you have questions, post them here.
and as far as babies go, i recommend the whole thing! she is my third, and i still have time for knitting, AND they make great models!

I do have a question about the pattern:

it states:  co 5, knit in the round make 1 stitch in each for a total of ten,

then it starts in on round 5...... what do you do for rounds 2-4?  I'm confused!  I want to make sure I understand the pattern before I start this!

Too cute!  I just found out my sister is pregnant with her second, and I'm going to put this on my "to knit" list.  All the other baby blanket patterns I have are boring...I love that this is round.  And your baby is beautiful!  Thank you for sharing!

hmmm...for some reason, i don't remember having this question when i was making it, but now i am confused..what did i do? i think i changed 'round 5' into 'round 4'...because you 'knit around' (so that was round 1), then you 'make 1 stitch in each stitch' (round 2), then knit around (round 3)...then what they have written as round 5, i did on the 4th round. get it? so basically, you alternate knitting one round all the way around, and then the next round doing a yarn over at the end of each section (and these sections get bigger as you go on).
