I made this last night for my youngest son to wear on Halloween, the robes are still in the works. Anyway my husband is a HUUUGE Star Wars fan and I figure we have 3 boys, he should at least get to have one boy be Yoda - haha. A crocheted lightsaber is in the works as well.

***update***
I ended up making a ton of these as they were a hit, and was asked to make an adult version. Here I am modeling it. :0) I wired the ears on the adult version as they were bigger and didn't stand up as well.

I am not a crocheter, but I adore your Yoda ears.  Did you make up your own pattern?  A lightsaber would be super cool...I would love to see it.  I wonder if I could knit one?  My son is a huge S.W. fan as well so these things would be put to good use.

Oh.  And that baby boy of yours....SO so so cute!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for all the nice comments!! My son wasn't quite sure what he thought of his ears. Haha!!  My 4 year old wants a Darth Vader Helmet now, and my husband says if I do that then I have to make him a full body Chewbacca suit - I said hell no - He's 6'7". Then told him I could start now and have it done is 2010!! :0)

I did make up my own pattern. I started to write it down but then just started going and got lost. I started with 3 rows of 12 sts, then dec one stitch on each side, did a few rows of 10, and started decreasing every so often only on one side, then decreased in the middle until I ended up with a point. I then sc all around the ear, at the base I crocheted 4 together (decreased) to kind of give it a tighter edge so it would curl some... then I did the opposite on the other ear.... You could put them on any hat really...

Anyway hopefully that makes some sense. Thanks again for all the nice feedback - I can't wait for Halloween!! :0)
