Star Wars Imperial Cog Baby Blanket

My fiance's daughter came to visit this week and I couldn't resist making this for her (and for him...he's such a huge Star Wars geek. LOL).

Thank you.  I made the entire thing out of fleece...1 yard of the purple and 1/2 yard to cut the emblem out.  I also used HeatnBond Ultrahold so I could iron on the emblem.

First, I drew the Imperial cog onto the paper of the heatnbond and ironed it onto the white fleece.  Then I cut it out and peeled the backing off.

Next, I cut the purple fleece in half and ironed on the emblem.  The heatnbond says not to sew it, but I'm still not sure about that.  I may stitch along the edges later if it looks like it might come loose.

Last, I cut squares off each corner and fringed the egdes.  I secured both sides together by tying the fringe around...and viola...an easy, no-sew baby blanket.

i have one of those blankets... and i LOVE it!!! that is such a great idea to make it star wars. i think i just found my brothers christmas present!

Thank you.  It took a bit of working to get it to line up right and have the proportions correct.  I saved the cut out though and I'm going to make an Imperial banner for one friend for Christmas.  Then I'm going to try my hand at Mandalorian skull and use the same method to make a cloak for another friend's mandalorian armor (think Boba Fett, Jango Fett.)

These kinds of blankets are amazing!
Ive made two "grown-up" ones (basically just bigger versions, less the starwars cog) and they are soooo warm!
