I just (finally!) finished making these boxes as gifts for my niece and nephews. I bought plain papier mache craft boxes and painted and shellacced them. These pics are of the lids, the rest of the boxes are just solid colors.

Now I will fill them with candy and toys and hopefully the kids will like them enough to forget what late birthday presents they are...

Oh my god.  Wow.  I'm totally floored!  I had *no* idea those paper boxes could ever look so good!  They totally rock, and if I were them I would totally not care that they're late birthday-wise. Cheesy
